Insurance companies have come a long way since the eighties. Contrary to popular opinion, it is not insurance company policy to treat same-sex couples differently, regardless of whether or not they are in a civil partnership.

The HIV assessment process is the same for a single gay man, single heterosexual man, or anybody else in a civil partnership or marriage. Underwriters concentrate on the risk of exposure to HIV/AIDS and not an individual’s sexual preference.
